Great Pacific Ship Management Co. Inc. was conceptualized in the middle of year 1999 in Hong Kong in view of the Principal’s needs of strong and dedicated workforce to man the newly built fleet of oil/chemical tankers and great lakes bulk carriers requiring specialized ship management and operation.
GPS Manila was established and become operational on September 16, 2000, with its first office located at 6th floor Columbia Tower, Ortigas Avenue, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila acquiring its initial bulk carrier vessel complemented with full Filipino crew management.
GPS Manila originally, was composed of five office personnel running the entire operation of the crew manning agency functions under the leadership of Capt. Lorenzo M. Osida as the President and Managing Director at the helm. From then on, the company progressively grows and prospers with additional two (2) oil/chemical tankers and three (3) bulk carriers in the same year. Due to the expanding number of managed vessels and increasing seafarer’s pool,
GPS Manila has transferred to a reasonably bigger office at Dona Feliza Syjuco Bldg. Corner Taft. Ave. Malate Manila, with ten (10) regular office personnel operating fourteen(14) newly built oil/chemical tankers, and four (4) bulk carriers with at least 360 seafarers under its combined crew muster lists and at least 80 seafarers on its crewing pool. Eventually in September 2009, GPS Manila once again transferred to its present office address at 4th Floor Ferguson Tower Building, 1125 M.H. Del Pilar Street, Ermita, Manila 1000, Philippines which is strategically located in the heart of the Manila City’s seaside shipping and business district.
GPS Manila has appropriate seafarers employment and deployment permits and license from Government regulatory body, the Philippines Security Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), which over the years has consistently rated company with “Good Standing”. In view of the strict maritime standards set both nationally and internationally,
GPS Manila as crew provider, continues to set high standards for its crew and crewing services to meet the requirements and satisfaction of the Principals, while steadfastly inculcating on its seafarers the essentials of personal and crew safety, good working ethics, and that of their environmental concerns and good relations with the various chains in the shipping sectors particularly the principal’s charterers.
To sustain the high level of seamanship of its seafarers, especially Filipinos, GPS Manila employs proactive and modern crew management doctrines and procedures, to ensure that ISM Code requirements are met without losing the focus on excellent seamanship.
